Session Start: Sat Oct 23 10:49:44 2004 Session Ident: #eberron [1049:44] * Logging #eberron to 'E:\My Documents\IRC Logs\#eberron.Sandwich.Net.20041023.log' [1050:41] * Merith (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has joined #eberron [1051:03] * Merith brings a large tray of mugs to the table. [1051:12] * Girdnick begins to deal a hand of Fives around the table [1051:34] * Victor takes a small sip of the Orcish ale once it arrives. Cause he's curious. (How bad is this stuff?) [1052:09] * Merith looks over her shoulder to Bitter as she sets down the glasses. "Six or seven orcish ales? And one meade." [1053:25] [Orcish ale is a thick brown sludge, akin to tar, and tasting like it would to lick a yak.] [1053:29] * Girdnick tosses her a few silver pieces as a tip and begins to guzzle his ale, dribbling the brown liquid down the front of his shirt [1054:18] "Thanks." Her voice it truly sunny, and her smile genuine. [1054:25] "Anything else?" [1054:35] * Victor 's eyes widen slightly and he puts it back down. He manages not to spit it out but he quickly takes a quaff of his meade. [1054:38] "I'll have a mead, if you will." [1054:43] * Yuber (Kage@1Cust133.tnt2.willis.tx.da.uu.net) has joined #eberron [1054:52] * Victor does pay for his mead, throwing in one as a tip. What the hell, he's got money now. [1056:16] "yeah, Merith, some jerky if you got it" [1056:33] "Certainly. Easy enough." [1056:45] "how much for that?" [1057:40] * Merith steps lightly to the bar, picks up the mead and a plate of jerky, and returns to the table. "Three silver altogether." [1058:11] * Kansakhad gives her four silver [1058:28] * Yuber (Kage@1Cust133.tnt2.willis.tx.da.uu.net) Quit (Quit: ) [1059:02] * Girdnick chops a gold piece in half and slides one of the pices to her [1059:28] * Victor does take his cards for the game. "So Kansakhad, any interest in the ability to store spells in your equipment? Ten percent discount on an spell storing infusion potion." [1100:23] "Thanks, guys." She skips back into the kitchen. [1100:26] * Merith (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has left #eberron [1100:28] Or are those things you do not spells? [1100:47] My power comes entirely from the mind. [1100:47] * Girdnick begins to arrange his cards drastically, turning some to the side, and turning one of them around so everyone can see a seven of swords. [1101:49] Aah, new they were special, just wasn't sure how that interacted with other powers. [1102:29] * Victor causally arranges his cards, he doesn't flip any unless that's a game rule and not a Girdnick mistake. [1102:51] I don't know a whole lot about magic. I suspect the end result is the same, either way. [1103:08] I've used potions before, I know they work. [1103:29] Need to find some accursed warforged, I figured I could make a tidy profit off... Oh, then you may desire a potion that let's you store some of the power of your mind in a weapon then. [1103:39] (-second then) [1104:19] I might. What can you do? [1104:41] {I'm under the impression that turning the card around is a Girdnick mistake} [1105:08] * Kansakhad also arranges his cards [1108:04] * Girdnick continues to play the hand of Fives as he gnaws on his jerky. "So, Kans, what you do when we not working for our boss?" [1108:12] * Victor spreads his jacket slightly, a mix of potions hang from the inside. "Well, this fine oil would allow you to store a ::he ponders his words:: low complexity mental power (lvl 1) in an item of yours for an hour or until you use it. I'm sure using your more conventional mental abilities you could think of some clever way to put that to use." [1110:08] * Kansakhad seems skeptical. "I don't think that's going to work." [1110:19] Mental abilities aren't magic. [1111:45] * Victor sighs and closes his jacket. "Ah well. If you have an interest I do have wares that will enhance your skills, make you harder to hit for a short or long period, or make your weapon magical." [1111:50] * Victor then concentrates on the game. [1112:43] * Elira (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has joined #eberron [1113:14] * Elira glides into the Blackened Blade, and examines the nigh-empty room. [1113:40] * Elira turns to Bitter. "Good day, Bitter. A bit slow?" [1113:42] * Girdnick looks up from his hand and grins. He then reveals a rather bizarre hand of cards and laughs. "Guess Girdnick folds." [1114:05] "Not to worry. These boys are treating us right." [1114:55] "Well, that's good to hear. They pass on the love we show them. As it should be." [1115:15] * Elira winks at Bitter. "It's all about the back-scratching, right?" [1115:26] "Indeed, Madame." [1115:28] * Victor snickers and drinks his ale. [1117:10] * Elira does a twirl, spreading her crimson skirt into a spin, and ends up at your table. "Gentlemen." [1117:44] * Girdnick stands and pulls out a chair for Elira. [1118:25] * Victor smiles and gives her a nod. "Elira." [1119:22] * Elira runs her hand down Girdnick's cheek, and smiles. "So gracious, Girdnick. Thank you." [1119:25] * Kansakhad nods at Elira. "Good [morning/afternoon/evening]". [1120:08] * Girdnick blushes a lot and stomps his left foot like a dog being tickled [1120:19] * Victor then thinks for a moment. "I don't suppose any of your.. clientelle would have interest in a skill enhancement potion? Seems like something that under the right circumstances could be sold[1120:19] * Victor then think[1120:30] * Kansakhad looks around. "Well, everyone sure seems to be in a good mood today." [1121:04] "A little bit of the golden touch can do that." [1121:46] * Elira takes her seat. "Good moods are contagious. And as for your... oil, is it? I think I could most certainly come up with something to do with that." Victor gets an equally suggestive wink. [1123:55] "So, how have you been? It's been quite a while since we last spoke. I hear Truggle had quite a trek for you." [1124:27] * Victor gives a knowing smile. "Well then, always happy to start a new business relationship. If you want to deal later I could sell you one now at twenty, if you find it works well, we could arrange for future orders at the ten percent preferred customer discount. Oh, and this is an oil infused in an item, but that item could just be some wristband or the like." [1124:29] * Victor nods. [1126:06] "Girdnick not remember much of the trek... lots of strange dreams and an ugly rat." [1127:16] "Sounds abysmal. Anything of note happen?" [1127:54] Just delivering an end of employment bonus. And killing a few rats. [1128:17] "Wasn't so bad really. Kinda like when Girdnick lived at home." [1129:15] * Elira pulls a privacy orb from nowhere, and speaks as she sets it in the center of the table. "I see you take precautions. I hate having to teach new ones about tact." [1131:03] * Girdnick winks at Elira and licks his tusk...the whole length of it... [1131:37] * Victor seems to remember something he said the first time he talked to Elira. He takes a bigger drink. [1132:12] * Girdnick nods at Victor and downs another Orcish Ale [1132:44] * Elira looks at Girdnick, her eyes going wide, then she settles into an amused grin. [1133:17] "So, now that we have security, anything you need to share?" [1134:57] "Well, we got our notice to meet here, so there's probly some very important stuff to be done. Or you'd have called on some lowly new guys." [1135:05] Not really, he put up quite a fight, we still haven't decided how to handle his axe. And while the job was quite lucrative and I appreciate it I'm more one for city work now that I'm getting more established. [1135:16] * Victor chuckles at Girdnick's comment. [1137:36] "Well, this time the task is indeed in Sharn. But before we get to that, tell me about your meeting with Truggle." [1138:38] * Victor chuckles. "We aren't getting involved with internal politics here, are we?" [1139:33] He was a lot more composed a polite than our prior meeting. If you can call him composed and polite. But otherwise, he told us what needed to be done and we went and did it. [1139:43] "Truggle acts tough, but Girdnick knows he ain't. Truggle eats his meat cooked, like sissy halfling." [1140:18] * Victor watches Elira with interest to see if she answers his question. [1140:44] "What did he tell you about the target?" [1141:14] It's been six months, so I don't remember all the details. But it was a warforged who was sent on a mission, and after ample time to complete the mission and return, had done neither. [1141:44] * Victor coughs. "Well, m'lady, you are certainly the more attractive and polite of the two. But if we're getting into a squabble here, why should we back your side?" [1141:53] "Yeah, and Truggle never answer questions when we ask. Girdnick not trust him" [1142:28] "Well, Victor, I think Girdnick has the right idea. Don't you?" [1143:33] * Victor smiles back. "I think you're far more capable of dodging a question while giving the illusion of an answer. Making you far more pleasant to deal with ::he smiles at that:: but by no means implying you have our interests at heart. [1145:11] "Elira taught Girdnick before, Girdnick likes Elira." [1145:30] "Perhaps we should discuss this another time?" She gives Victor a mischievous grin. [1147:31] * Victor grins after Elira's comment and waits until she speaks to say more. "Well, on Girdnick's recommendation then I shall make my choice. And look forward to future discussions. Truggle was clear that we should not attempt to find out why he left the Maw, just to kill him straight-away. I thought that information might not be meant for our ears, but he may have another motive." [1148:41] "Now, that wasn't so hard. Shall we get on to today's business, then?" [1149:19] * Victor grins and leans back, slowly sipping at his ale. "Certainly." [1150:35] * Elira smiles at Victor. "Good choice. Is anyone familiar with the politics in Darguun at the moment?" [1150:48] * Kansakhad shakes his head no [1150:59] Not in the least. [1151:46] "Got prettier things to think about than politics in Dargunn" [1154:21] "You said today's work is in Sharn. What that gots to do with Darguun?" [1155:18] "Well, I suppose the politics aren't really important for the task at hand. There is a representative of the ruling tribe arriving in Sharn today." [1155:43] * Victor nods. [1155:54] "He is meeting with representatives of House Deneith, but we think there may be another agenda." [1156:20] "You want ears there, or fists?" [1156:22] "Diplomacy has never been much of a tool for Darguun." [1157:11] * Girdnick cracks his knuckles and grins. [1157:16] "Your tools are up to you. Our sources say that two items are important for this other agenda, and we need you to remove them, and leave no ties to the Maw in your wake." [1157:52] * Victor nods again. [1158:22] "Can you say to us what those things are, or do Girdnick need to find out the hard way?" [1159:22] "You are searching for a perfectly transparent gem approximately the size of a coin, and a pure white candle with an inscription on the side." [1200:16] * Victor nods. "Do we need to take any special precautions when handling them?" [1200:24] "Should we bring the items somewhere, destroy them, or take them for oursleves?" [1200:44] "These have been present at every meeting we've monitored, but don't know what purpose they serve. They may just be symbolic, or foci for spells of some sort." [1201:26] "I don't really care what you do with them. They just need to be out of the hands of the Darguun entourage." [1202:57] * Victor nods. "Any other information about the entourage, numbers, make up, likely carriers? [1202:59] Sounds simple enough. Do you know when/where they will be arriving? [1203:07] "Of course, they'll be coming in along the road from Zilspar. You may meet them there, or follow them to wherever they'll be staying. The meeting is tomorrow, and we expect them to leave soon after. You must extract the items before morning." [1204:56] * Victor nods and takes another drink as he thinks. [1205:27] "how long till they arrive?" [1206:04] "Whatever purpose they serve, they may not be with the main representative. They bring a large number of tribal guards with them, and one of them may be using the items while the cover meeting is taking place." [1206:25] "They should be at the edge of the city in a few hours." [1207:39] to the other two PC's "So do you guys wanna follow them and do this while they sleep, or should we try to get them before they arrive?" [1208:00] * Victor nods. "Are we now known as employees of the maw? So any who see us will have to be killed?" [1208:05] They'll probably offer less resistance in their sleep, but they will still have guards. [1208:41] * Victor looks to Girdnick. "Sleep ideally, if we can determine who carries it then we can only deal with guards in that particular room." [1208:47] "Have you told people you are members of the Maw?" [1208:53] * Victor shakes his head. [1209:35] "If you don't wear our symbols openly, and don't tell people, how will they know?" [1209:55] "maybe if they all stay in the same building, we just destroy whole building?" [1210:12] We don't want to raise unnecessary attention. [1210:20] Destroying a building would attract lots of attention. [1211:06] * Victor smiles. "Just being cautious. Well, I'm about as ready as I will be, let's go follow." He finishes his ale. "Oh, and is there any incipid political slogan we could say to establish a false[1211:06] * Victor smiles. "Just being cautious. [1211:32] so, we destroy building from far away, nobody knows it was us [1212:07] Girdnick: Right. Do you have a portable balista we could use? [1212:20] Girdnick: That wouldn't remove the objects from their posession should they survive. [1213:28] We need to take the objects so that they can't use them, even if they were to survive an attack. [1213:44] "Darguun politics aren't based on slogans. They're goblins." [1214:23] "Girdnick is orcish. Girdnick understands Durguun politics." Girdnick grins and fingers Boneblade. [1214:46] * Victor laughs. "Well then let's be off. Hopefully we'll get some clue as to who carries the item on the way." [1215:22] "Girdnick see you again tomorrow, Elira?" [1215:51] "I'll be around, if you can find me." She gives Girdnick a wink. [1216:39] "Maybe Girdnick finish job early and find you tonight." Girdnick raises and eyebrow and downs another orcish ale. [1216:50] * Victor grins. "And sometime in that next week we shall have that talk." [1218:14] "As to Girdnick, so to you, Victor." [1218:47] * Elira takes the orb, and slides over to speak with Bitter. [1219:23] * Victor chuckles. [1220:07] Alright let's go to the road. We can wait by the gate or eat a meal by the road and follow when the goblins pass. I'm not much of a tracker or a sneak, so I hope one of you to are. [1220:12] "So, now where we go?" [1220:38] I'm not really much of either as well. [1221:38] * Elira (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has left #eberron [1221:42] * Bitter (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has left #eberron [1221:48] "Girdnick not sneak around much. Maybe we just wait at gates and tackle them hard [1222:15] I think there's likely to be more people than three of us can handle, if we go in without sneaking. [1222:47] "None of us sneak around. Can't do that at all, so we need different plan." [1223:13] Well, let's wait at the gates, we'll be noticed on the road. We can probably follow at a good distance considering the size of this group. Perhaps only one of us should handle the first part, as it will be less noticable. [1224:09] I think there's likely to be more people than three of us can handle, if we go in without sneaking. [1224:28] (ack. ignore that) [1224:35] Well, whatever we do, we should go now and not have this conversation here. [1225:09] * Girdnick stands and heads out of the bar and mounts his orc-horse. [1225:22] * Victor nods. "Okay, we wait at the gate, we all follow if it seems doable, just one otherwise." [1226:21] * Victor leaves as well. [1226:32] * Kansakhad also leaves [1227:19] [And so, the group of brave and skilled adventurers headed out of the Blackened Blade and traveled through the city of Sharn towards the city walls.] [1228:55] [As usual, there is a large gathering of merchants and money-changers gathered around the eastern entrance to the city, vying for the attention of newcomers.] [1230:36] [As luck would have it, several hundred yards outside the city, there can be seen a marching train of goblinoids with a banner hoisted high over their heads, announcing the passing of one of the tribes of Darguun.] [1230:44] * Girdnick stops at a nearby vendor. "Hey, buddy. Know where a guy could find some magic that tells you where something is if you lose it?" [1231:14] * RandomMerchant (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has joined #eberron [1231:16] * Victor glances at the banner and smiles. "Okay, splitting up will not be necessary." [1231:41] "Not cheap, and not from me. Go away." [1232:27] * Girdnick flashes a few gold coins, then pockets them again and spits on the floor in front of the vendor before taking his leave. [1233:17] [Among the legion are many goblins, about a dozen hobgoblins, and four bugbears. All are heavily armed and armoured. They do not bring mounts, carts, or baggage.] [1233:27] * RandomMerchant (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has left #eberron [1234:48] Yeah, room it is, definately wait. [1234:49] * Kansakhad whispers to Girdnick, "Still think you can take them on?" [1236:09] * Girdnick hollers toward the entourage in orcish. "Come, come, weary travelers! Stay and get your booze and wenches at The Greasy Marlin!" [1236:36] * HobgoblinBannerBearer (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has joined #eberron [1236:42] * Victor makes an effort to look like he's not with Girdnick. Shouldn't be too hard. [1237:33] "Stand aside, half-orc, before we separate your orc half from your human." [1238:08] "Silence, else we'll find the meek goblin in your hobbishness!" [1239:20] * Victor surpresses a snicker, and stays well away from the enterouge. [1239:37] (ditto) [1240:24] * Girdnick grumbles and holds up a sign he has scribbled on the way. It doesn't say anything, but has a roughly drawn picture of a marlin, obviosuly sketched poorly after he passed an inn with the same sign [1240:34] * HobgoblinBannerBearer ignores Girdnick, and barks out an order in Goblin. "Yip grunt girrarsh!" [1240:49] the sign is drawn with colored chalk on a piece of rotten wood [1242:26] [The column marches through the mass of merchants, which splits to allow passage of the frightening group.] [1243:11] * Victor follows from a distance once the column is a ways ahead. [1243:48] * Girdnick steps back after a moment, and lowers his sign. Turns and mumbles, "Girdnick tried something smart..." [1244:14] * Victor nods once the goblins are away. "It's not your fault, the goblins were just too stupid to listen. [1244:34] * HobgoblinBannerBearer (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has left #eberron [1244:35] * Kansakhad also nods. "That was actually a good idea. But I think they already had their destination in mind before they came to town." [1245:12] * Girdnick grins widely at Victor and Kansakhad. "So I guess we follow the trail of goblin piss and muddy footprints." [1245:26] * Kansakhad frowns. "I suppose so." [1246:47] Sounds good. Once we get there I think one or two of us should wait in the inn, see if we can find out anything. Could have the third go buy a white candle with some script on the side. We could make it seem like some goblin dropped it and see what room they take it back to. [1248:21] "we not know what the inscription says. might not work." [1248:46] You expect them all to be able to read? [1249:04] "Girdnick not know. Girdnick no read either." [1249:06] * Victor grins. "Exactly, if one of them recognizes it as a fake, then that's a clue itself." [1249:48] we also don't know how big this candle is, or even if everyone in their group knows of it. [1250:11] "Maybe you right. We can decide when we get there." [1250:32] Well, we can buy one the size of other magic candles, and just leave it out a while. No guarantees but better than nothing. [1251:13] [The goblins seem single-minded, and don't seem to recognize that they are being followed. They head to a private location in the fifth tower. It doesn't seem to be an inn.] [1252:08] * Victor looks over the location. [1253:06] As the goblins enter, Girdnick questions a nearby guard, if any are there, asking "why the goblins no like greasy marlin? Me get money if they stay there tonight." [1254:34] [As you walk the perimeter, you find there is one entrance to the facility, but several windows skirt the rooms.] [1254:53] [No guards are posted outside the entrance for Girdnick to question.] [1256:12] * Victor leads the others a bit out of sight of the facility to make a quick plan, if none object. [1256:27] no objection [1258:05] "Girdnick can climb walls and go in window." [1258:40] "All Girdnick need is something so not wake up more than one room at a time." [1258:54] * Victor conspires quickly. "So, I doubt they'll be leaving and we aren't going to be able to be subtle enough to try my plan. So I guess we go in, find the nicer accomodation, and hope that they're there. If the alarm is sounded we start a fire to keep away reinforcements." [1258:59] * Victor nods. [1259:36] We should also have an escape route planned, just in case. So if we have to run we don't get lost. [1259:54] * Kansakhad nods [1300:55] * Girdnick leaves his greasy marlin sign nearby in some shadows. "We go opposite direction as Marlin. They recognize me, they go there after us." [1301:48] * Victor smiles. "Good thinking. Okay we give them some time to settle we can scout then, they'll probably be tired. Then enter by the window." [1302:13] And what you two do while Girdnick climbs? [1303:40] We'll come in too. I can climb it with my powers and place the grappling hook quite if you guys don't have a better idea. [1304:20] * Kansakhad looks at the wall [1305:34] I could probably easily make it up there, if you can get up first and open a window. [1307:00] * Victor nods. "Can do. Alright, so we get in, we kill any goblins we encounter, we find the second nicest room or most magical looking one and raid that? Sound good?" [1307:37] yeah. We should wait until cover of dark, though. It'll be harder on us, but less people outside to see us enter/leave. [1307:43] "good to Girdnick. What time we go?" [1307:54] "Girdnick see in dark fine." [1308:24] Familarize ourselves with the area for a two hour or so I guess. Sound good? [1309:10] "Not stay here too much until we ready to act. Not want to be seen too soon." [1310:20] "Girdnick ready whenever." [1310:49] * Victor nods. "Right we meet over there" Points to a fairly good meeting spot not viewable from the tower. "Til then just be sure you know where to run, aside from away from the Greasy Marlin." [1311:49] "We meet tomorrow. After we done here, we go different directions." [1312:06] * Victor nods. [1312:07] [Night descends on the group, as they surrepticiously examine the area and try to remain inconspicuous.] [1313:35] * Victor readies his grappling hook, putting a bit of cloth around the loud metal of it. He then examines the windows, checking if they appear to be locked, better to find out now than once up there. [1314:53] [The windows are wide open.] [1315:15] Alright, before we go in, I'm willing to cast one spell on each of you. I'd recommend magic weapon or magic vestments, as they'll last twenty minutes or so. [1315:45] anything to make us quiet? [1316:19] * Victor nods. "If you prefer, yeah." [1316:54] "that's what we all need Girdnick thinks" [1317:28] * Girdnick rubs his vestment oil onto his armor plates [1317:43] * Victor nods. He casts skill enhancement (move silent) on his feet. He does the same for Girdnick, this time using a scroll. [1318:00] thanks, vic [1318:02] (on the shoes, mate) [1318:10] (right.) [1319:23] * Victor first casts weapon augmentation personal goblinoid bane, on masterwork dagger. [1319:23] hm. I'll take the move silently thing too. [1320:08] * Girdnick attempts to stop victor when he pulls out his dagger [1320:16] * Victor lets Girdnick stop him. [1320:19] Hmm? [1320:20] "Use a different weapon." [1320:47] err, yes, definitely. We don't want to show who we work for. [1320:50] "Elira ask us not to let them know who sent us. They see that knife, they recognize it." [1321:02] * Victor grins. "Good point." [1321:11] * Victor puts the dagger away and goes with his morning star. [1322:25] * Victor then casts the move silently spell on Kansakhad. And, if there's no further objection, transforms and climbs up to open the window. [1322:37] * Kansakhad manifests Force Screen and Vigor [augment 2] immediately before climbing up the wall [1322:47] * Girdnick wraps a black cloak around his shoulders and begins to climb as well [1322:53] (and the window was already opened) [1323:35] * Victor thinks and whispers. "Actually, Girdnick, just hold the hook and I'll climb up with that, might need the transformation later." [1324:03] "okay." Girdnick enters the open window and first looks around the room. [1324:20] * Victor does let Girdnick have his grappling hook, obviously. [1324:46] (retcon galore!) [1325:26] * Kansakhad walks up the wall and enters throught he window [1326:13] * Kansakhad (dshadow@tachyon.zort.net) Quit (Client closed connection) [1326:50] * DShadow (dshadow@tachyon.zort.net) has joined #eberron [1326:56] * DShadow is now known as Kansakhad [1327:09] * jnespuxah sets mode: +v Kansakhad [1329:35] [Each of the infiltrators gains the window via their own unique means, and reasonably quietly. Peering into the dark room, they see a six goblins seated at a table with cups in front of them. They seem to be casting dice.] [1332:05] * Victor tries to assess if there's much chance of sneaking around the, [1334:39] [There are rafters on either side of the window you occupy, about three feet away and four feet above you.] [1334:49] * Kansakhad whispers to Victor, "I can make a ditraction, if you want." [1335:23] [A crossbeam leads into another room through a narrow airshaft.] [1335:48] * Victor shakes his head. He points to the rafters and whispers back. "Only if we need it." [1338:21] * Victor reaches to get some help up from Girdnick, using the rope if necessary. [1339:26] * Girdnick inches forward to find a way to climb into the room, but loses his footing and quickly leaps forward, catchiung the rafters with a silence that defies his actions. [1340:41] * Girdnick pulls himself up onto the rafter and extends a hand to assist Victor or Kansakhad if they need it. [1341:17] * Victor heads up looking a little worried at Girdnick's initial leap. [1342:36] * Kansakhad walks along the rafters to where Girdnick and Victor are [1344:47] * Victor climbs along the rafters to the far side of the room, he crawls, no point being flashy about it. [1345:37] [The table of goblins starts to look around the room.] [1346:00] * Girdnick halts his motion and signals for the others to do the same [1346:01] * Victor signals to Kansakhad. [1346:26] * Kansakhad manifests control object. The goblin's table starts attacking them. [1347:05] * Victor looks amused and keeps working his way across the room. [1347:29] * Girdnick hurries along towards the airshaft [1349:13] [The goblins draw their swords and start to jab at the table, shaking off some kind of slime which covers them.] [1349:53] * Kansakhad follows Victor and Girdnick along [1350:08] * Girdnick stifles a laugh as he reaches the airshaft and begins to move into it. [1350:24] [The table creaks as it clubs one of the guards and knocks it to the floor, where it falls unconscious.] [1352:26] [The combat with the table continues as the group crawls through the airshaft into the next room. There is some noise as the occupant of that room, a large bugbear, moves to the door and grips his morningstar tightly.] [1352:49] * Girdnick waits to see if the bugbear leaves before entering the room [1353:14] * Victor keeps his eyes out for any obvious signs of storage places. [1353:48] [The bugbear puts his shoulder against the wall beside the door, waiting for the intruders to come into the room.] [1353:50] * Zeiram (matt_ries@east-19-24.dynamic-dialup.coretel.net) has joined #eberron [1355:05] * Victor , satisfied the the bug bear isn't moving and that there's nothing in the room keeps moving along to the next room (if the shaft keeps going), as soon as he can. Still tries to keep quiet though. [1357:22] * Kansakhad grabs victor and whispers, "wait. the bugbear is nervous about something under the bed." [1357:55] * Victor nods and stops. [1358:53] [The combat in the other room seems to die away just as Kansakhad speaks, and the bugbear glances up to the rafter.] [1359:49] * Zeiram (matt_ries@east-19-24.dynamic-dialup.coretel.net) has left #eberron [1404:29] * Girdnick lunges into the room headfirst, foaming at the mouth, and plunges his Boneblade into the Bugbear's abdomen as his knee lands hard on the ground. [1405:04] * Kansakhad runs down the wall and checks under the bed for goodies [1405:52] [The bugbear falls to the ground, as a gout of blood spills forth from the wound in his stomach. He doesn't even have the air in his lungs to let out a growl.] [1406:01] * Victor shifts and using his newfound climbing ability scurries down the wall to secure the Goblin door while drawing his morning star. [1406:50] [Kansakhad finds a small chest under the bed, weighing about thirty pounds.] [1407:54] * Kansakhad checks to see if the chest is locked [1408:34] [The door bursts open, despite Victor's valiant efforts, and the five goblins remaining from the attack by the table burst into the room.] [1410:54] * Kansakhad moves into a defensive position and manifests control object on the chest, causing it to jump at one of the incoming goblins [1411:01] * Girdnick turns to notice the goblins in the doorway. He stands, grins, and withdraws his blade from the Bugbear corpse. The closest goblin lets out a quick 'gart-' before the same Boneblade impales intself in his throat. [1412:27] * Victor scurries along the wall while swinging his morning star down at one of the goblins. He tries to keep high enough that only one or two of the short nastiees can swing at him at a time. [1413:44] * Victor 's morning star swings down and rips through the goblin flesh with almost magical animous, leaving a nice blood and brain splatter on the floor. [1416:24] [The chest lands on a goblin, splatting it soundly. Both of them thrash around for a bit before the goblin goes still. [1417:31] [The two remaining goblins seem indecisive, but swing about wildly, trying to hit the foaming beast right in front of them. They fail miserably.] [1418:51] [However, one of them smashes the head of his morningstar onto the chest, and chips off a piece of the lid.] [1419:15] * Girdnick grabs a goblin by the shoulder and pulls him into the point of his Boneblade. The goblin only squirms for a moment before its lifeless corpse is tossed aside by the monstrous Girdnick. [1420:00] * Victor swings his morning star again, still not deigning to return to the floor. [1420:43] * Victor leaves a dent in the goblin's skull as he falls to the ground. "Smash the chest Girdnick, we need to know if it has what we need." [1422:19] * Victor quickly loots the Bugbear while Girdnick works. [1422:33] * Girdnick picks up the animated chest and slams it against the ground hard [1423:28] [Girdnick's blow arrives just as another ray from Kansakhad strikes the chest, and the lid flies off, revealing a large collection of coins and a small silk bag.] [1423:48] * Kansakhad picks up the silk bag and exsamines its contents [1423:58] * Victor finishes looting the bugbear. [1424:42] * Girdnick (shazbat@67.20.168.247) Quit (Quit: ) [1425:20] [The bag contains a white candle with some sort of runes carved along the edge, and a carefully wrapped gem of some sort.] [1426:15] * Girdnick (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) has joined #eberron [1426:22] * Kansakhad closes the bag. and whispers, "Ok,we got what we came for, let's get outo f here." [1426:41] * Victor pockets a few silver pieces and smiles. "Yeah, I doubt the rest are carrying enough to be worth the time." He gets to scurrying up and out. [1427:12] "That was too easy." [1427:14] * Victor will take the rest of the chest if Kansakhad doesn't but that wouldn't presumably be a problem. [1427:45] "But Girdnick not look orc-horse in mouth. Smell like Girdnick's mother." [1428:18] * Victor nods. [1429:21] * Victor tries to get up to the rafter, but the transformation wears off (3 rounds is so not enough time. :P) and gets help from Kansakhad and the grappling hook if both are willing. [1430:13] * Kansakhad assists [1431:10] * Victor helps Girdnick up with the hook if need be and then gets the hell out. [1431:22] * Girdnick works his way up the wall in the goblins' room. He stops at the top to wipe a bit of foam from his lips. "We meet tomorrow at 'the place.'" [1431:49] * Victor nods. [1432:09] * Victor grins, "Next round is on the bugbear." [1432:24] * Kansakhad smiles [1433:46] [After spending the evening in their respective hideouts, they return to the Blackened Blade to examine the spoils.] [1434:27] * Victor orders a round of ales, an extra orcish or two for Girdnick, and gives the rest of the thirteen silver as tip. [1435:22] "Not guarded very well. But new guys probably get killed." [1437:04] * Victor nods. He presents the chest and divides up three chunks of 86.13 gold, silver, and copper. He leaves one copper in the middle of the table. [1437:17] * Victor then casts skill enhancement on his jacket and goes about examining the goods. [1437:19] Victor: can you see if these things are magical? [1437:40] (Retcon) [1437:57] (Skill enhancement is for use magical device, as backup) [1438:14] * Victor shakes his head and tries fiddling with the devices in hopes of getting them to work. [1440:52] * Victor shrugs and puts them down. "We could try lighting the candle, but don't have any ideas beyond that." [1442:00] probably best we just give them to Elira, rather than trying to mess with them. [1442:47] She said they were ours. I'll give each of you ten gold if you like and try to figure them out later. [1443:04] I think they're worth way more than that. [1443:15] I'll keep the gem. [1443:46] "Maybe Girdnick keep them safe until Victor can find out what they do." [1444:13] Fine by me. [1446:11] If you like, we could spend two hundred of the loot on getting the appropriate pearls and I could identify both of them. [1447:00] that'd proabably be reasonable. [1447:09] I have a hunch both of these are woth at least ten times that much [1447:19] "Better to know. If they're magic, they're worth more than the coins." [1447:26] * Victor grins. "So did I, can't blame a guy for trying though." [1448:25] It'll take some time, but I'll get right on it. [1453:25] * Victor returns after a while. "Candle let's you cast a zone where no lies can be spoken, but only once. Gem creates an air elemental when you crush it." [1454:01] Nice stuff. [1454:13] * Victor nods. "Not too bad at all." [1454:20] Candle must have been for making their meeting go on their terms, elementer for backup. [1454:38] Sensible really. [1455:54] Well, I don't really need either, and would happily just take money instead, trying to buy a proper lab. [1456:56] [The small group sat for a while and worked out a deal that was good enough for all for all of them.] [1457:15] (Yay! We rock!) [1458:10] [session end] [1459:38] * Girdnick (xavier@pcp04931597pcs.owngsm01.md.comcast.net) Quit (Quit: ) [1508:25] * Disconnected Session Close: Sat Oct 23 15:08:29 2004 nd worked out a deal that was good enough for all for all of them.] [1457:15] (Yay!
