[1021:35] * Victor brings both ales to the table and puts one down in front of her. "You seem to have some form of conflict. I'd like to know what my interest is in being on your side." [1026:40] "Depends on how you value your neck. I prefer diplomacy and... other methods. Those who challenge my place have more... acute methods, if you get my meaning." [1028:39] * Victor chuckles. "Well, my personal preference aside, if I continue to stick my neck out for you I fear it may encounter those acute methods." [1031:29] "Not wholly unavoidable in our business. But whoever takes the new place will determine who continues to give you tasks. It's a matter of short-term risk for long-term gain." [1033:17] * Victor nods. "I can buy that. Trouble is, in an organization such as this it's rather hard to evaluate just how high the risks are and how far off and likely the long term gains." [1034:25] "I could offer some more immediate gains, were you to become my advocate among your team. What's your fancy?" [1036:19] * Victor grins. "Well, my greed is within reason. This first time you can choose the form of the boon." [1038:37] "Something fleeting, or perhaps something more utilitarian?" [1040:02] * Victor leans back in his chair. "I generally consider myself utilitarian. But... I think I shall make an exception today." [1049:55] "I see we understand each other. This is far from ordinary, but perhaps a mutually pleasing beginning. Not a breath to others, yes?" [1051:54] * Victor nods. "That would only mean more people to divide the utilitarian benefits amongst in the future." [1054:00] "Excellent. Perhaps you have someplace that would be more suitable to further... discussion?"
